Remembering Bill Watson

Bill Watson

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the tragic loss of our President, friend, and captain this past week.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, to his teammates on Angie’s Angels, and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill had been part of this league for more than 40 years. He, his wife Angie, and their team played out of the Portsmouth Tavern. After Angie’s passing, the team adopted the name Angie’s Angels in her honour.

If it weren’t for Bill, Angie, and Jackie, this league would not exist today. When the league folded, they stepped up and carried it forward, keeping our community together.

To honour Bill’s memory, the league will be contributing to a memorial bench at a local children’s accessible playground. We will share updates on this project as they become available.

Update: December 2025

Thanks to the generosity of our league members and community, we have raised $1,200 toward Bill’s memorial bench. This amount will cover the installation of the bench as well as a ten-year memorial term. Further details about the program can be found on the City’s website.

We will be working closely with Bill’s family to choose a meaningful location for the bench. Once a park has been selected and an installation date confirmed, we will share another update.
