Hello everyone,
We have an important update to share, including executive team changes and information on schedules and scorekeeping.
First, we’d like to thank everyone and apologize for any confusion or uncertainty leading up to the new season. Things always get a little hectic right before a new season, but everything is coming together, and we’re very excited for the 2025–2026 season!
Our website and Facebook page will continue to remain active. Dave Tessier has volunteered to act as interim Webmaster and Statistician while the executive team looks to appoint a permanent replacement. We’d also like to thank Shawn Fournier, who has done an outstanding job maintaining the site for most of the past decade.
Other changes to the executives are as follows:
Jim Nairn has been appointed as Vice President in the interim. As this is a voted position, Captains are encouraged to let me know if they wish to hold an emergency meeting, or accept as is and simply go out and enjoy a night of pool. Jim has been with the league for many years, and I thank him for accepting on short notice.
Lynn Macintyre has been appointed as Treasurer and will be collecting the funds from all Raxx teams. Rob and Mick can also submit directly to Lynn.
At this time, the Secretary position will remain open.
We wish to thank all past executives for their work for this league.
The September schedule has now been posted. We encourage you to bookmark the schedule page at https://www.kingston8ball.com/schedule
(Pro tip: if you click on the schedule, then click your team’s name, you’ll see a schedule page for your team alone!)
Additional schedule dates will be uploaded by mid-September, giving us time to make any small adjustments that may arise during the first couple of weeks of play.
Captains:
Going forward, please submit all scores by email to TNM8BL@gmail.com
* You may either attach a photo of your score sheet, or
* Send a simple message with the total scores and your team names.
In the past, scores have been submitted through several different methods. To keep things simple and consistent, this email will now be the single official way to submit statistics. The same email address can also be used by any player to send inquiries to the executive team.
Rule Change
The proposed ball-in-hand rule was voted in by a majority and will be adopted as follows:
Note: this is not a complete shift to BCA rules.
1. Once groups of balls are established, you must hit one of your object balls first, or your opponent gets ball in hand anywhere on the table. You do not need to hit the ball you aimed for, as long as you hit one of your own.
2. If you hook yourself on the 8, you must hit it or it is loss of game. (No change.)
3. If your opponent hooks you, you must hit the 8 as it is your object ball. If you do not contact the 8 first, your opponent gets ball in hand.
4. You do not need to hit a rail after contacting your object ball.
Thank you for your cooperation, and here’s to a great season ahead!
