Doug Alberry

It is with deepest regret that we share this post concerning the passing of Doug Alberry.
Our thoughts go out to his partner, Evelyn, and all of his family and friends. Doug was a member of the Blind Squirrels team. He was admired and respected by all of his teammates and every opponent he faced. He suffered from a spinal injury which necessitated the use of a walker, which did hamper his ability but never his love or enthusiasm for the game. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with fondness in our hearts.

In Our Thoughts

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the recent passing of two of our league members who will be greatly missed.

Doug Alberry, a member of the Blind Squirrels, passed a few weeks ago, and if we receive more details, they will be published. His funeral has already taken place.

Stephen Gregory Smith, Greg, was a member of the Chalk & Awe team. He was a member of our Legion and a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. Greg passed away Saturday afternoon, January 31st, 2026.

He was a great member of our Legion and will be missed by the members of this Legion, but also 631 where he played pool. He will be greatly missed by the euchre players on Friday night. He was a fun player and will be missed.

We would like to pass on our condolences to Lynda and her family from the members of the Executive of our branch. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynda and the family at this time.

His funeral will be this Friday, February 6th, at St. Linus Church in Bath at 12:00 noon, followed by a luncheon at the Bath Legion at 1:00.

Please say some extra prayers for him and their son and all of us who loved him.

Looking for a League Statistician

This role, as well as all other executive roles, is an unpaid, volunteer position.

Do you enjoy being organized and keeping things running smoothly? Our pool league is looking for a Statistician to help manage scores and keep our members updated.

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor the league email (for team scores and public inquiries).
  • Post weekly team scores to the website.
  • Set up the season and playoff calendar.
  • Maintain venue details, team names, and logos on the website.
  • Update league pages when executive members or wording changes.
  • Share announcements on the website and Facebook.

What you won’t need to do:

  • No server or IT management.
  • No web design, coding, or graphics work required.
  • No need to maintain the website platform or styles.

The responsibilities are well documented, and training will be provided. This role is all about organization and communication — not tech skills. If you can work with basic website tools and enjoy helping the league stay connected, we’d love to hear from you!

Email tnm8bl@gmail.com, or talk to a league executive if you’re interested.
